Medical Physics
Medical physics consists of a highly skilled team of professionals including medical physicists and dosimetrists. These professionals use computer technology to devise treatment plans for patients undergoing radiation therapy. The area to be treated is carefully identified and the dose of radiation required is calculated accordingly.
The medical physicist also establishes and oversees radiation safety practices throughout the radiology and radiation oncology departments, as well as other departments within the medical center that use ionizing radiation.
