Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at BryanLGH Medical Center is led by a board-certified neonatologist and a highly trained, multidisciplinary team from nursing, radiology, respiratory therapy, anesthesia, lab and more.

Features of this unit, which is specially designed to care for our sickest newborns include:

  • Lighting and sound engineering that create the optimum environment for the development and comfort of these babies.
  • Heated panels above the sinks warm the area, when babies are big enough for bathing.
  • Each patient room has a family area that can be separated with a privacy curtain. A sleeper sofa offers a place to rest or to spend the night if desired. A private refrigerator stores a mother's breast milk or the parents' beverages.
  • The first floor of the Institute for Women's and Children's Health offers a NICU family area where parents can shower or do laundry.
