Cancer Committee
The BryanLGH Cancer Committee meets quarterly, and its membership comprises physicians and medical center employees who are actively involved in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with cancer. Committee members supervise the Cancer Registry, develop and perform patient care evaluation studies, ensure patient access to consultative services in all disciplines and provide multidisciplinary cancer case conferences.
Cancer Conferences
Multidisciplinary cancer conferences are held weekly to provide a coordinated, comprehensive evaluation with treatment plan recommendations for patients and physicians. Cases presented include a synopsis of the patient’s pertinent medical and physical history, clinical course of their disease, radiographic studies and pathological interpretations. Following each presentation, treatment options are discussed by the medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, pathologists, radiologists as well as other disciplines including nursing and social services. A goal of the conferences is to give physicians and patients information and options based on national standards of care. You may ask your doctor to refer your case to the committee for evaluation. Your doctor would need to call the Cancer Registry at 402-481-3108 for this service.
