LINCOLN, Neb.¿ Melissa Johnson, executive director of the President¿s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, will speak at BryanLGH Medical Center February 24, 7-8:30 p.m., about the health threats facing America because of poor diet and sedentary lifestyles.
Johnson will explain the four pillars of the president¿s ¿HealthierUS¿ initiative and show how we can take charge of our own health through small steps. She will outline programs and resources available to stay active and fit for life.
Johnson works with council chair Lynn Swan, vice chair Dorothy ¿Dot¿ Richardson and 17 other appointed council members to recommend programs and strategies to Americans of all ages, backgrounds and physical abilities. Formerly a competitive gymnast, she leads an active lifestyle as an avid dancer, weight trainer, cross trainer and yoga enthusiast.
