LINCOLN, Neb. — BryanLGH Medical Center has received over 15,000 requests for its new medication card. The card fits in a billfold or purse for quick reference to a person’s medications or allergies should they need emergency medical treatment. It also provides a place for physician name, pharmacy name, insurance company, emergency contact, power of attorney and advance directives.

“Having a list of medications and other health information isn’t just nice to have,” said Carl Valenti, BryanLGH emergency department manager. “It is critical to patient safety and timely treatment.” If a patient is unconscious or unable to communicate, the information on this card allows healthcare workers to perform timely, accurate evaluations which avoid possible drug interactions and treatment delays. "Even if a person doesn’t take any medications, it’s important to carry one of these cards indicating so," says Valenti. “You never know when this information will help you or someone you love.”

The BryanLGH medication card is free and can be picked up at the information desks at:

BryanLGH Medical Center East, 1600 South 48th Street
BryanLGH Medical Center West, 2300 South 16th Street
Pine Lake Medical Plaza, 3901 Pine Lake Road
